The Thyroid, Adrenals, Pancreatic and Pituitary hormones
The Endocrine System and Hormones
The name hormone comes from the Greek word hormao meaning "I excite" and refers to the fact that each hormone excites or stimulates a particular part of the body known as the target gland.
Hormones — such as estrogen, testosterone, adrenaline and insulin — are extremely important chemical messengers that affect many aspects of your overall health.
Hormones are secreted by various glands and organs including your adrenals, your pituitary, the ovaries, testicles, thyroid, and the pancreas The endocrine system works together to control the level of hormones circulating throughout your body. If one or more of these hormones is slightly imbalanced, it can wreak havoc on the body causing major health problems.
We will discuss the hormones secreted from the adrenals, pituitary gland, thyroid, and the pancreas.
